Holes In My Pockets

holes in my pockets

Well I’ve got holes in my pockets

From carrying too much weight

And I’ve got holes in my shoes

Worn out along the way

I’ve got a hole in my soul

So big it’s gonna break

I’ve got holes in my pockets

I’ve got tears in my eyes

From staring at the sun

I’ve got tears in this bright sky

A better day’s gotta come

You know these tears that I cry

Are falling way too much

And I’ve got holes in my pockets

Every time I think I’m right

It turns out I’m all wrong

When I tried to say goodbye

You were long gone

Now my eyes are failing me

Say, do you understand?
My 20/20’s still can’t see

What’s slipping through my hands

I clutch and grasp at everyday

Just to stay the same

It’s all about a little give and take

Some you lose, some you save

Do you believe the things you say?

No, no you’re no different than me

Tell me why I still can’t see

What’s slipping through my hands

I’m looking at these holes

Wondering what things should I keep?

I’d fix them if I could

But the holes are just too deep
